How long does the Professional Pilot Program take?
The Professional Pilot Program is an accelerated FAA Part 141 path that takes cadets from enrollment to Certified Flight Instructor in 12 to 15 months. Every phase is structured to help you ensure you reach your flight deck goals.
Cadets who already hold a Private Pilot Certificate may enter at the Instrument Rating phase, reducing both training time and total cost.
All cadets complete phases 1 to 4:
- Phase 1 - Private Pilot: 4 to 5 months. Begin here if you have no prior flight experience. PPL holders skip to Phase 2.
- Phase 2 - Instrument Rating: 2 to 3 months. Build the instrument flying skills required for professional operations.
- Phase 3 - Commercial Single-Engine: 3 to 4 months. Develop the technical proficiency required for paid flying.
- Phase 4 - Certified Flight Instructor: 2 months. A key milestone - CFI gives you a path to building flight hours in a paid role.
Then choose your completion track:
Track 1 - Commercial Multi-Engine Add-On
1 month. For broader commercial and airline opportunities.
Track 2 - CFI - Instrument
1 month. For stronger instructor credentials and faster paid hours.
The structured pace is designed to help cadets maintain momentum and avoid the delays that commonly extend flight training timelines.

Your airline pilot career after this program
The goal isn't just to pass your checkrides. It's to build the flight hours and credentials that lead to an airline pilot career.
After earning your CFI through the PPP, you may have the opportunity to build hours in a paid instructor role and prepare for airline pathway opportunities with the support of Acron Aviation Academy's Academic Advisor team.
For cadets pursuing the airline path, the long-term progression is generally:
- Complete the PPP and earn a Certified Flight Instructor certificate.
- Prepare your resume and schedule your initial instructor interview with support from your Academic Advisor.
- Meet hiring airline partners that regularly visit and recruit cadets at the Sanford campus.
- Join a Pilot Pathway and transition into a regional airline opportunity, many of which may offer tuition reimbursement, sign-on bonuses, or training-related incentives.
From cadet to instructor. From instructor to airline. This is the path Acron Aviation Academy builds for every graduate.
You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen to work at Acron Aviation Academy.
