Jet Transition and CRM training in Florida

Aviation demands more than ambition. It demands precision, discipline, and command in the cockpit. The Jet Transition Program at Acron Aviation Academy, in partnership with Bell Murray Aerospace, prepares experienced commercial pilots for multi-crew jet operations.

A Jet Transition Program in progress

Is the Jet Transition Course right for you?

The Jet Transition Program is not a beginner course. It is built for experienced commercial pilots who are ready to develop the skills, confidence, and command required for multi-crew jet environments.
This program may be ideal for these individuals:

  • Military pilots transitioning to commercial aviation
  • General aviation pilots transitioning to a multi-crew cockpit
  • Regional and commercial pilots preparing for legacy airline positions
  • Helicopter or single-seat pilots seeking crew experience
  • Pilots converting a foreign license to fly in a multi-crew environment

The Jet Transition Program is one of several pilot training programs at Acron Aviation Academy. Unlike the Professional Pilot Program, it doesn't take students from zero experience through commercial pilot training; it focuses on the operational skills licensed pilots need for complex multi-crew jet environments.

A Commercial Pilot License is required to enroll. If you're transitioning from helicopters, the military, or a foreign license and aren't sure whether you qualify, our Pilot Career Advisor team can confirm your eligibility and advise on the right path.

Train for the career, not just the checkride and license. The Jet Transition Program is built for pilots who are serious about the next stage.

Admission requirements

To enroll, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be able to speak English proficiently
  • Hold a Commercial Pilot License
  • Be able to travel to Sanford and Orlando, Florida, during class availability

Important: The Jet Transition Program is not an FAA-approved program. It provides transition training for commercial pilots and does not qualify as primary flight training.

What you'll gain from jet transition training

Simulator hours alone don't make a multi-crew pilot. Judgment, communication, and command do, and that's what this program builds. The Jet Transition Program gives experienced pilots the operational grounding to perform in multi-crew jet environments from day one.

The Jet Transition Program will provide pilots with training in the following areas:

  • Crew resource management and crew-concept operations
  • Commercial jet communications and checklists
  • Differences between flight management computers on smaller aircraft and jets
  • Cockpit procedures for commercial jets
  • Confidence and familiarity in a commercial jet environment

Pilots often leave with a marked rise in confidence and proficiency in a commercial jet cockpit, an outcome noted by Southwest Airlines, a major customer of the Jet Transition Program.

Don't just learn to fly jets. Prepare to command them.

How the Jet Transition Program works

The Jet Transition Program is a short, instructor-led course that prepares licensed commercial pilots for multi-crew jet operations, covering crew resource management (CRM), jet cockpit procedures, and flight management systems. Delivered by Acron Aviation Academy, in partnership with Bell Murray Aerospace, in Sanford and Orlando, Florida, it runs across ground instruction, flight training device practice, and full flight simulator sessions.

From the classroom to the simulator, every step is designed to build the operational confidence that multi-crew jet environments demand.

1

Step 1: Ground instruction

Students begin with 8 hours of instructor-led ground instruction covering CRM concepts, communications, checklist conventions, and the operational differences between smaller aircraft and commercial jet systems, including flight management computer workflows, jet performance considerations, pressurization, high-altitude operations, and energy management.

Ground instruction takes place at our Sanford campus in Central Florida, roughly 30 minutes north of downtown Orlando.

2

Step 2: Flight training device practice

Pilots then apply those concepts with 4 hours in a flight-training device environment, helping to bridge the gap between theory and practical cockpit coordination.

3

Step 3: Full flight simulator training

The final stage is 4 hours of training in an A320 full-flight simulator, building confidence in a realistic multi-crew jet setting near the Orlando International Airport.

What's included in the Jet Transition Program

Instruction is led by former fleet managers and chief pilots with major U.S. airline backgrounds. They are professionals who have operated at the level you're training to reach.

What’s included in the program:

  • Training provided in partnership with Bell Murray Aerospace, an aerospace training provider with experience in commercial and military aviation
  • Instruction from airline training professionals, including former fleet managers and chief pilots from major U.S. carriers
CRM and crew-concept training built for pilots transitioning into standardized multi-crew jet environments
  • A320 simulator training in airline-style full-flight simulator environments
  • A graduation certificate upon successful completion of the program

Bell Murray Aerospace brings a strong airline-training background to the program, with experience across commercial and military aviation training. Jet Transition instruction also draws on instructors with major-airline backgrounds, including former fleet managers and chief pilots with transport-category type-rating experience.

Jet Transition Program FAQs

What experience do I need to enroll in the Jet Transition Program?
You must hold a Commercial Pilot License and meet the minimum age and English-proficiency requirements. The Jet Transition Program is built for experienced commercial pilots, not beginners. This program develops multi-crew and CRM skills on top of existing flight training.
Can anyone enroll in the Jet Transition Program?
Yes, you do not need to be currently enrolled at Acron Aviation Academy to enroll in the Jet Transition Program. Pilots from any flight school are welcome, as long as they meet the program requirements.
Is the Jet Transition Program FAA-approved?
No. The Jet Transition Program is transition training for licensed commercial pilots, not primary flight training, so it is not an FAA-approved program. It builds crew resource management and multi-crew jet skills that airlines look for, but it does not by itself confer any FAA certificate or rating.
How is this program different from the Professional Pilot Program?
The Professional Pilot Program is an FAA-approved Part 141 path that takes students from little or no experience to Certified Flight Instructor. The Jet Transition Program is a shorter course for pilots who already hold a Commercial Pilot License and want to build crew resource management and multi-crew jet operations skills.
How long is the Jet Transition Program?
The program runs a short, focused schedule: 8 hours of ground instruction, 4 hours on a flight training device, and 4 hours in a full flight simulator. Classes run monthly with multiple dates available. Contact the Pilot Career Advisor team to secure a date.
What is crew resource management training?
Crew resource management (CRM) is training in the communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills pilots use to operate as part of a multi-crew flight deck. It is a core focus of the Jet Transition Program because single-seat and general aviation pilots rarely practice it before moving to a commercial cockpit.
