  • Build a monthly budget for living expenses

Many students combine two or more strategies. Let us help you develop a plan that fits your needs.

The long-term return on investment

Within 18 to 24 months, many graduates begin earning as certified instructors or First Officers.

Tips to save on flight training

Use simulators to build skills

Maximize simulator time to prepare for flights and avoid unnecessary in-air repetition. At around $95 per hour, full-motion flight simulators are a cost-effective alternative to renting an airplane. Although less effective, home simulators like Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane offer viable options.

Stay on track with your training

Avoid breaks that lead to retraining and extra hours. Aim to train at least three times a week to keep things fresh and make quicker progress. Putting some time into self-study can help you cut down on instructor hours, which saves you money. Treat your training like a job. This mindset will boost your efficiency and help you focus on your budget-friendly goals.

Apply early for scholarships

The earlier you apply, the better your chances of securing not only admission but also valuable scholarships. Many scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances of being considered. This type of financial aid can significantly help reduce the cost of your education.

Train full-time if possible

Full-time training leads to faster completion and fewer surprise expenses. Training full-time allows you to finish your training in a much shorter timeframe. This approach speeds up completion and helps you gain skills more effectively. Keep your training consistent and frequent, and you’ll be ready for work as soon as you graduate.
