Black History Month - Destini Ferrell shares her story

Meet Destini Ferrell, a proud native of Sanford, Florida with dreams of becoming a pilot since the tender age of six!

However, like many young individuals, the pathway to her destination was not a direct one. After initially pursuing a career in healthcare, she found herself reflecting on her love for aviation. This led her to reset her course to follow her destiny in the sky, becoming a flight attendant.

Being surrounded by pilots only fueled Destini’s ambition further to climb higher in the aviation field. In September of last year, she embarked on her training at our Sanford Flight Academy and is now diligently working towards obtaining her Commercial Pilot License! Destini hopes that her story will ignite enthusiasm among others who share similar passions, encouraging them to chase their dreams as well.

“The percentage of women (especially black women) in the profession is very small. I hope to make a change and inspire other young black women to pursue this career,” she expresses “The only thing stopping you is you!”
