Alumni success story: Rami Sabbah

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Acron Aviation Academy Alumni, Rami Sabbah, who is now a pilot for Spirit Airlines, based at MCO in Orlando, Florida.

Rami shared insights into his journey, which began far from the Sunshine State. Growing up in Jordan, Rami was inspired by his father, who was also a pilot, to pursue a career in aviation. The decision to train at the Acron Aviation Academy in Sanford, FL, came through a recommendation from a good friend. At the age of 17, Rami made the significant move to the United States to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot.

His training took off in October 2014. Rami found the Academy's 141 program to be well-structured, keeping him actively engaged in flying and progressing steadily through the training curriculum. He highlighted the encouraging learning environment and the support from experienced Flight Instructors as key factors that helped him achieve his goals within the planned timeframe. By April 2016, Rami had successfully completed his initial flight training.

Following the completion of his training, Rami was offered a position as a Flight Instructor at the Academy. He viewed this role as a perfect fit, allowing him to remain immersed in the aviation environment and continue his professional development until he made his connection to the airlines!

In addition to his career as a commercial pilot, Rami currently offers his time and expertise as a dedicated volunteer within the aviation sphere. He is a member of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), advocating for pilot rights, safety, and industry standards, as well as a Senior Director at Arab American Aviation Professionals (AAAP) - serving to “advance the organizations mission and driving innovation in the aviation industry.”

Reflecting on his experience and offering guidance to current and future students, Rami emphasized the importance of dedication. He advises students to "keep working hard towards your goals and trust the process. You will be there before you know it!"
